Frequently Asked Questions
How do I add a new starter?
Navigate to the Starters tab and tap the "+" button. Enter your starter's name, flour type, and any notes. You can track feedings over time to monitor your starter's health and activity.
How do I log a bake?
Go to the Loaves tab and tap the "+" button to create a new bake log. You can record details like flour type, hydration percentage, fermentation times, oven temperature, and add photos of your results. You can also link a loaf to one of your saved recipes.
How does iCloud sync work?
Crust Log automatically syncs your starters, recipes, and bake logs across all your Apple devices using iCloud. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID on all devices and that iCloud is enabled for Crust Log in your device's Settings > Apple ID > iCloud.
My data isn't syncing between devices. What should I do?
Try the following steps:
- Verify that iCloud is enabled for Crust Log in Settings > Apple ID > iCloud.
- Make sure both devices are signed in with the same Apple ID.
- Disable Low Power Mode, which can delay background sync.
- Force-close and reopen Crust Log on both devices.
- Restart your device and try again.
How does the reverse bake timer work?
The reverse bake timer lets you set the time you want your bread to be finished, then works backwards to schedule each step of the baking process. You'll receive notifications for each step so you never miss a critical moment. This feature is available with the Premium upgrade.
What's included in the free version vs. Premium?
The free version includes up to 2 starters, 10 bake logs, unlimited recipes, and the hydration calculator. Premium unlocks unlimited starters and bake logs, plus the reverse bake timer. Premium is a one-time purchase — no subscriptions.
How do I delete a starter, recipe, or bake log?
You can swipe left on any item in the list to delete it, or open the item's detail view and use the delete option. Please note that deleting a starter will also remove all associated feeding records.
Is my data private?
Yes. Your data is stored locally on your device and in your personal iCloud account. We do not have access to your recipes, bake logs, or any personal data. For more details, see our Privacy Policy.
